So, here is the list, so at the end, you can choose from it:
The Best Computer for 3D Artists
1. ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15
This is a fairly competent all-around laptop that can perform nicely in demanding loads and pairs the hardware with the punchy and fast screen. It can be the Best Computer for 3D Artists who want to use it for 3D modelling or animation.
it comes with:
- AMD Ryzen 7 4800HS
- GeForce RTX 2060
- 16GB DDR4
- 1TB NVMe SSD
- 15.6” 240Hz screen
- Price: $1,499.00
This laptop has a really good processor from AMD, and it can perform better than the Intel i7 9750H which is also a really good processor that comes with a lot of laptops this year. 16GB of RAM is going to allow you to do a lot of things and the GeForce RTX 2060 is just amazing for Real-time rendering, PBR texturing, and GPU rendering.
One of the downsides of having this laptop is its build quality because it is mostly plastic, which makes it highly prone to showing smudges.
2. Acer Predator Helios 300
This laptop is known for being one of the best gaming laptops, which makes it also the Best Computer for 3D Artists, which they can use smoothly in 3D modelling, animation and rendering because it has a good balance between CPU, RAM, and GPU at a reasonable price. also, it has a solid build.
it comes with:

- GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
- 16GB DDR4
- 256GB NVMe SSD
- 15.6″ Full HD 144Hz Screen
- Price: $1,599.00
Some of the downsides of having Acer Predator Helios 300 is the low 256GB SSD capacity which will run out fast if you are working with large files or if you have a lot of media files.
The Below-average battery life means you can’t use it for long on battery. and it does not have Thunderbolt 3
3. Lenovo Legion Y540
The Legion Y540 is a slim and lightweight, relatively speaking, gaming laptop that packs a sensible, mature, and ultimately still stylish design, narrow bezels, and several configuration options.
It comes with:
Intel Core i7-9750H 2.6GHz
16GB RAM
256GB SSD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB
Full HD 60Hz
Price: $1,149.00
This laptop can help you do a lot of things whether you do 3D Modeling, Animation, or VFX work. And it is considered a very good laptop for its price tag. You don’t always find a laptop with these good components at this price.
One of the things worth mentioning is the Below-average battery life.
Also, Lenovo disables Intel UHD Graphics GPU by default, in addition to that there is no SD card reader, and No Thunderbolt 3.
When it comes to the 256GB capacity, I think it is very low, so you will need to upgrade soon after buying this laptop.
4. Razer Blade 15 2020
Razer Blade laptops are most popular among gamers but they can also be among the Best Computer for 3D Artists list, they are good for doing your work as a 3D artist.
it comes with:
- Intel Core i7-10750H 6-Core,
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
- 16GB RAM
- 256GB SSD
- 15.6″ FHD 1080p 144Hz screen
- Price: $1,599.99
It has the latest 10th generation intel i7 processors, s which are perfect for doing a lot of things, especially animation and simulations. and the 1660 TI, which is also a good graphics card.
One of the problems with buying this laptop is the low 256GB storage capacity.
5. MSI GP65 Leopard
This is another good MSI laptop that can help you do your work as a 3D artist
it comes with:
- Intel Core i7-10750H
- RTX 2060
- 16GB
- 512GB NVMe SSD
- 15.6″ 120Hz
- Price: $1,399.00
MSI GP65 Leopard is a good option to consider because it has a good combination of the latest 10th generation intel i7 processors and the RTX2060. overall the MSI GP65 Leopard is very good compared to its price.
I just want you to know that this laptop is falsely advertised as a 15.6″ 144Hz laptop if you are not going to use it for gaming as well as going to your work I don’t it is going to be a problem.
6. Asus ROG Strix G
This laptop from Asus can be one of the most affordable budget laptops on this list because it has a good balance when it comes to CPU, GPU, and Ram at a good price.
it comes with:
- Intel 6-Core i7-9750H up to 4.5 GHz
- GeForce GTX 1650 4GB
- 16GB DDR4 RAM
- 512GB SSD
- 15.6 Inch 120Hz FHD 1080P
- Price: $1,112
The Asus ROG Strix G is overall a great laptop especially when you consider its price. Surely, the display could have been better for a ROG laptop but if you can compromise with that, the rest of the package will keep you happy. The performance is smooth and consistent due to its excellent thermal management.
7. Asus TUF Gaming Laptop
this laptop comes with:
- AMD Ryzen 5-3550H
- GeForce RTX 2060
- 16GB DDR4
- 512GB PCIe SSD
- 15.6” 120Hz
- Price: $1,099.00
Even though this laptop has a good Geforce RTX graphics card and good ram, I think that its point of weakness is its processor.
I am not saying that it is not good because you can do your work using it but generally speaking I think it is less capable than the i7 8th or 9th generation. but according to the price of this laptop, I think it makes a lot of sense.
8. Dell Alienware 2020 M15
This is another popular laptop from dell that has been around for a while now. It can be on our list: the Best Computer for 3D Artists.
It comes with:
- 8th Gen Inter 6-Core i7-8750H
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
- 16GB DDR4 RAM
- 1TB HDD
- 15.6-Inch FHD 1080P Price: $1,449.99
some of the things i did not like about this laptop is the fact they did not upgrade to the 9th or 10th generation of intel Processors, and the absence of SSD storage which leads to less speed when lunching the system, applications and when copying files as a result. overall this laptop is a little bit expensive for what it offers.
9. HP OMEN 15 Laptop
This is probably one of the best laptops you can buy from HP if you want to work on 3D projects at a reasonable price.
it comes with:
- Intel Core i7-9750H
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
- 16GB RAM
- 256GB NVMe SSD
- 15.6″ FHD Display
- Price: $1,349.99
Overall, I think Omen 15 has a good balance between performance, build quality and price.
10. MSI GS65 Stealth-006
MSI GS65 Stealth is another popular laptop from MSI that you can buy with different components,
it comes with:
- Intel Core i7-8750H
- NVIDIA RTX 2060
- 16GB DDR4
- 512GB Nvme SSD
- 15.6″ 144Hz
- Price: $1,590
I chose the 006 models because I think this is the best you can get with as low of a price as possible. the processor is not really up to date compared to the other 2020 laptops but the graphics card is very good.
Some of the things I did not particularly like about this laptop is the lid and the average 512GB storage, but you can upgrade it, I guess.
How to choose the Best Computer for 3D Artists
One of the first things I recommend if you want to buy a laptop for your work as a 3D artist is doing your research because you don’t want to make a long term decision on the fly since this will more likely backfire if you don’t have good knowledge about the subject.
You don’t have to be an expert or anything, you just need to know the basics of hardware operations to help you do different things as a 3D artist.
As we mentioned in a previous video, the most important thing you need to look for is the processor because it is responsible for everything happening inside the machine, so it is better to be strong and very capable.
Second is the RAM, which will allow you to be able to open multiple software at the same time and work smoothly on large scale environments or complex simulations.
And of course, the graphics card or the GPU is a very important real-time texture painting and GPU rendering which is very common these days to achieve better results in a shorter period.
Storage is also a very important thing to look at even though it is not going to be as big of a problem as the 3 components we just mentioned.
As we have seen on this list: the Best Computer for 3D Artists, most laptops have SSD drives which are becoming a standard practice especially from now going forward.
I don’t recommend buying a laptop with 256GB of storage unless you are willing to upgrade it right away because I know it is going to be filled few weeks after you make the purchase.
The size of the screen is not going to be big of a problem either because 3d artists usually work with external monitors to do their work. for example, I don’t even open my laptop. I have two 24 inch MSI monitors that I use all the time instead of using the small 15.6-inch screen of the laptop.
The build quality is very important because if your laptop is mostly made of plastic it will probably get damaged fast, or if it has some serious points of weakness in the lid it can break if you move a lot or if you use it excessively.
When it comes to the price, I recommend paying the most you can afford at the moment because this is an investment in something that will make your life better. In addition to that, you don’t want your machine to be outdated fast because laptops are getting better at every pace.
I would say if you buy a midrange laptop, it will get old in 3 or 4 years, so you want to make sure to stay ahead of what most people have today.
If you have a desktop pc then this probably will not be a big of an issue but laptops are just hard to upgrade.
Finally, I hope this was informative and that you are now able to decide by yourself which is the Best Computer for 3D Artists.
