4 great Blender Addons for Terrains and Space Scenes!

If you want to create terrains and exterior natural environments, then I have got you covered with 4 amazing Blender addons for terrains. It includes all the necessary assets like rocks, trees, plants, and so on. Or if you want to create space projects that include Galaxies, nebulas, planets, and so on, you’ll also find some great Blender space addons that can help you do that in a very short period of time.

Why using Blender addons for terrains and space scenes in your workflow?

It’s definitely one of the greatest time savers of the entire process. Not to mention the fact that it helps you push the results further in execution. Some unpopular opinions might view Blender addons as cheating in general. However, the finality is always the verdict when it comes to projects. If you finish in an effective time with the best results possible, then you have achieved your goal. Regardless of the methods you use, you will always need talent and hard work in the 3D world.

4 – True Earth

True-Earth is an accurate CG depiction of the planet earth.

It comes with accurately realized Rayleigh scattering through the earth’s atmosphere, True-volumetric clouds, and accurate displacement of the Earth model. With True earth, you can rotate a sunlamp around your mesh, while a Sun-Sphere mesh moves around the scene accurately so that you have a visible source of light in renders. It also comes with the red light scattering you get on the horizon at sunset or sunrise. Which is a great feature if you want more realism.

You can find this awesome Blender terrain addon and more details about it here: https://blendermarket.com/products/true-earth?ref=247

3 – True Mars

This is not just a model of Mars. You can say it’s one of the best Blender space addons that helps you when creating your perfect planet Mars. It works using a bunch of very high-quality Textures from NASA and a sphere. BUT! It’s professionally done, and there’s a high-resolution version with 24k textures and there’s low res with 8k textures for those who prefer speed over accuracy.

There are also Procedural Dust Storms and they work just fine in EEVEE, which is Blender’s real-time engine. This will allow you to see how your Planet is being modified in real-time while you are changing the settings without having to render every time (which I think is fantastic!). Mars’s atmosphere is kind of the opposite of the Earth’s: so during the day, it’s brownish/red skies, and at night, it’s got a nice blue haze.

2 – True Space: the ultimate Blender space addon

This is a collection of fully dynamic, unclipped, HDR space images. In a form of an addon that helps get quick access to those HDR images using quick previews, in addition to the availability of changing the resolution on the fly. Moreover, True Space gives you the ability to control many HDRI related settings such as exposure, saturation, contrast, and more.

True Space comes with a vast collection of 30+ space HDR images, a custom world shader with options for exposure and light intensity, and a custom user interface for easily swapping your worlds. The interesting thing is the different resolution options you can get from 4k, 8k, 12k, and even 18k images which is the limit. These kind of features can even come in handy when it comes to Matte Painting related projects (check our previous post on the topic by clicking here)

If you have ever tried rendering a fully volumetric nebula before, you probably know that it’s not fast and it will consume a ton of the precious time you have to finish your project. So the developers of Blender addons and the Blender artists behind True Space embarked on a task of creating high quality, render efficient worlds, that you can use in a very short period of time.
